Still the company has to pay you a salary of 40,000 to 50,000 thb a month, deposit monthly tax, social security on your behalf. You will be on the company rolls. Immigration will visit your office to see that you really work
DrJoy
The foreigners’ minimum salary for Thailand work permit has to be shown in the monthly employees withholding tax return (PND1) of the employing company. The Immigration Bureau needs to see the 3 latest months of PND1 showing the salary and the withheld income tax so they will extend the work visa for the expat. They expect to see the foreigners’ minimum salary for Thailand work permit as follows: THB 50,000 per month for expats from Western Europe, Australia, Canada, Japan, and USA; THB 45,000 per month for expats from South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong; THB 35,000 per month for expats from Eastern Europe, South America, Central America, Mexico, Turkey, Russia, South Africa and Asia (except the following group); and THB 25,000 per month for expats from Africa, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam

This is a very common thing here in Thailand, The tax and SS people are only concerned with getting the taxes on amounts they quote as Minimum.
