webfact
Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath reported that the Civil Court in Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok, will meet at the end of next week to hear the case for civil damages in the case of "Dr Kratai". Dr Kratai - real name Waralak Suphawatjariyakul - is the opthalmologist who was mown down on a zebra Crossing in Bangkok by a cop on a Ducati motorcycle. She died and the policeman - Lance Corporal Norawich Buadok - has already been prosecuted in the criminal court on many charges in relation to the incident back in February. The case caused much soul searching and resulted in Zebra crossings throughout the country being upgraded and demands that the police prosecute drivers if they failed to stop. The media kept the case alive for a while reporting every time CCTV cameras caught people disobeying the law. ASEAN NOW notes that drivers and motorcyclists routinely ignore such crossings in Thailand. Pedestrians using one do so at their peril. The parents of Dr Kratai - Dr Anirut and Rachanee - are suing the Royal Thai Police, the first defendant, and Norawich demanding 72 million baht in damages. After legal arguments about court jurisdiction yesterday the court will meet to further hear the case on Friday August 19th at 9am. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-08-09 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. I think I read somewhere that they calculated how much salary she would earn as a qualified doctor until she retired. Either way, you cant put a price on your own daughter's life. This is very sad, but I feel they deserve every penny, just to highlight the dangers of the road, and hopefully ???????????????? deter others in the future from being such retards on the road. 12

At best, this killing (sic) should deter others from thinking that they are safe at a Zebra crossings. Nothing will change in Thailand as a result of this....

Unfortunately for the family I doubt they have much chance of winning their damages claim. And despite their family tragedy, life for the rest of Thailand Will Go On unchanged.

RTP force will have insurance coverage (but also access to compensation funds in the event that it didn't have insurance) that's who I was talking about, not the officer who was riding the bike.
