A live toad was the last thing Hannah expected when unpacking her suitcase (Image: HANNAH TURIAN)

Hannah Turian got the fright of her life when she saw the creature had leapt out of her luggage

WALES NEWS

A student was terrified when a toad appeared out of her suitcase after a journey back from Thailand. Hannah Turian, who just completed the second year of her psychology degree, had travelled to Thailand to volunteer in a school.

When the Cardiff University student came home, she unpacked her toothbrush and a few other items from her suitcase at 1.30am. She'd been travelling for 35 hours and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary in her luggage.

The next morning, she was on the phone to her mum and was in for a serious shock. She told WalesOnline: "I was up early because I was quite jet lagged. I heard something moving and didn't know what it was. Then I saw something had moved in my suitcase so I shut the suitcase, ran out of my room and screamed.

Only if his asylum application has been accepted!  Illegal immigrants do not qualify for state benefits.

They get 40 quid a week straight off the boat, some are put up in nice hotels and have immediate health care. I would call all that state benefits. The toad however is on his own, unless he calls up the RSPCA!

Smuggling toads. I wouldn't shout about it.

That's only for those who have applied for asylum officially, not for illegal immigrants.

Hardly any difference these days, they all lie or come from countries like Albania with no need to claim Asylum, but are not sent back.

That toad just wanted to get out of Thailand.  I can’t really blame him.

When it hears the Welsh Language I am sure it will on the next plane back?????

Was he given a bike. One of the old student residences near me in the UK is now housing 'asylum seekers', they have all been given free pushbikes

Found one in my suitcase after arriving in Kurdistan having travelled from Pattaya.

Put it in a small pool of water outside, below my aircon unit.

Never saw it again as this was in the dessert.

Try a kiss and see if he turns into a handsome prince

After a 6,000 mile journey, perhaps the toad needed a leek!!!!

He's going to find it a bit cold in the winter.
