Protesters from 38 activist groups gathered at the Democracy Monument demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut after his eight year term in office is due to end tomorrow Tuesday.

Police have closed roads leading to the prime minister's home in anticipation of larger crowds and further protests.

 

The local authority in Bangkok the BMA is to consult with train operators after some 30 passengers were injured on an overcrowded escalator at a BTS station on Saturday evening.


Authorities will look at ways of better managing congested stations and will consider limiting the number of people allowed on stations during peak periods.

 

The government has reminded land owners to use their land or risk losing it. Under a 1979 law the government can seize land that has been left unused for 10 years. Although the regulation has not been enforced so far.


A police corporal gave herself up to police for questioning over alleged abuse of her house maid. The maid claims she was burned with hair curlers and hit her with a metal stick, causing nose and head injuries. 


This after she was forced to leave her job in the military to work as the housemaid. 


Pol Corporal Korn-sasi faces charges including dereliction of duty, intimidation, deprivation of liberty, physical abuse and human trafficking.

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says his country will decriminalise sex between men but has no plans to change the legal definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman. LGBTQ groups welcomed Lee's decision, but expressed concern that ruling out same-sex marriage would help to perpetuate discrimination.
