There is a scheduled aircon bus from the airport to go to Patong that does not have to wait for 10 people. If you have to take a bus, then sharing a cab is too expensive for you. Yes the Taxi Mafia makes it expensive. It is why when I fly I call a friend to pick us up or have the hotel we are staying at send a car.
