Thai Rath reported on a group of several dozen Thai people who were conned into going to work in the Philippines.

Instead of the promised work promoting crypto currency a Chinese gang demanded they operate a so-called romance scam.

Their phones were taken from them. Eleven people wanted out but were chained up, hit with a chair until unconscious, assaulted and submerged in water and ordered to pay 100,000 baht for their release.

Others even had sex clips taken in order to blackmail them.

Eight decided to contact relatives and come up with the 100K for their release.

Three others were helped by the Sai Mai Tong Rort community organisation headed by Ekkaphop Luangprasert in Bangkok and two more were assisted by the Paveena Hongsakul foundation in Pathum Thani.

Ekkaphop took one 26 year old Thai woman to the ATPD (anti human trafficking force) yesterday.

Representations are being made to the justice ministry today in a bid to help around 40 people who are stuck in Manila after going along with the gang's demands.

Promoting crypto or a duff bride. Hmm, now which one to choose? I know. Let's ask immigration. No mention of Filipino involvement. Same as in Cambodia. Just Chinese.

Coronavirus or romance scam--take your pick.  China's got it all.

Never work abroad unless you have done your homework and made sure it's verified as legit.
