The Constitutional Court is scheduled to meet again on September 14th, to discuss the 8-year term in office of suspended Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, after it instructed the secretary-general of the House of Representatives to submit additional information by the end of next Tuesday.

According to a press release from the Office of the Constitutional Court, they are seeking the meeting minutes and report of the 501st meeting of the Constitution Drafting Committee, dated September 11th, 2018, from the secretary-general of the House.

The agenda of the meeting on September 11th, 2018 includes an item on the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting of the committee, said the press release.

Ha, ha!  Thailand officials require more paperwork from those in leadership, too!  Boy do I know something about being asked to bring more documents!

Does anyone really believe this Court will toss out Pray-hoot?  Thick brown envelopes already delivered.

UPDATE:

Court Needs Documents from Parliament in Prayut’s Tenure Case

BANGKOK, (TNA) – The Constitutional Court considered a petition on the eight-year term of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and demanded the minutes of the 501st meeting of the Constitution Drafting Committee from the House by Sept 13 before its next meeting on Sept 14.

The court held a meeting today to consider the petition from the opposition asking it to rule if the prime ministerial tenure of Gen Prayut already ended.

After the meeting, the court stated it ordered the secretary-general of the House of Representatives to send the minutes of the CDC’s 501st meeting on Sept 11, 2018.

Court pretending to scrutinize diligently

The only document the Court needs is the public issue of the 2014 Royal Gazette that announced Prayut's endorsement as PM.

In lieu of a copy I offer the New York Times article:

May 26, 2014

"After Coup, General Vows to create A 'Genuine Democracy' in Thailand"

https://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/27/world/asia/thailand.html

"In order to maintain the peace and order of the nation and the reconciliation of the people, there shall be a royal command to officially endorse the appointment of General Prayuth Chan-ocha as the leader of the National Council for Peace and Order to administrate the country from here onward."

"General Prayuth" .... "was flanked by top officers of the armed forces who stood in front of emblems of the military and the official seal of Thailand's monarchy."

Will the Court deny this event took place and/or have any significance?

This has become a farce.  Everyone already knows the decision of the Court.

Of course and No

So they're having a meeting on 14th September 2022 to discuss the agenda from a meeting held on 11th September 2018, which includes the details of the agenda from a previous meeting?

How is it that I'm not surprised!

It's not even brown envelopes. This banana court operates purely on instruction from above. They exist to please one person. No other reason.

Have them re-edit the constitution that they wrote.

Everything should work out for the most corrupt government Thailand has ever had.

this charade is better then any top world wide soap opera theatrical and/or Italian commedia dell'Arte Drama Play.... academy Oscar award winning goes to Thai government  555

Definition of laughingstock

: an object of ridicule

The only paperwork required is toilet paper.

Delay Tactics ?

I'd say the Prime Minister has a decent legal argument.

The constitution did not take effect until April 6th 2017.

Why shouldn't he get his 8 years under the new constitution?

Up to the courts to decide, well see.

Do some of you think he might refuse to step down if so ordered by the courts?

This is just a theoretical question. Both the court and Prayut receive instructions/orders from the same people.

I fail to see if his term was posted in the royal gazette how there can be any objections to the start date, especially in view of the suspended Muppets statements on the sanctity of the institution publishing it.
