F1 - Williams driver Alex Albon suffered respiratory failure and was treated in intensive care following appendix surgery at the weekend.


The 26-year-old had an operation on Saturday but suffered "post-operative anaesthetic complications" and was put on a ventilator.Thai Albon came off the ventilator on Sunday morning and is now back on a general ward in Monza, Italy. Williams says he should return home later today.

 

Football -English Premier League side Wolves have signed former Chelsea striker Diego Costa on a free transfer until the end of the season.The 33-year-old has been without a club since leaving Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in January. He has signed as cover for new signing Sasa Kalajdzic, who suffered a cruciate injury on his debut. Costa, who is closing in on 500 career appearances, won the English Premier League twice with Chelsea and claimed several trophies with Atletico Madrid in two spells for the Spanish club.

 

Arsenal's Europa League tie with PSV Eindhoven has been postponed because of "severe limitations on police resources" following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The match was due to take place at Emirates Stadium on Thursday. Uefa said a new date for the match would be communicated in due course. Chelsea's Champions League group stage match against Red Bull Salzburg tomorrow will go ahead as planned.

 

Cricket - England completed a nine-wicket victory over South Africa at the Kia Oval. It gives captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum a sixth win from seven Tests in their first summer in charge. South Africa men's head coach Mark Boucher will step down from the role after this winter's T20 World Cup.
