HIT by heavy rain, floods and landslides the tourist island Koh Chang is now focusing on reviving tourism at yearend by launching sports and entertainment activities as a draw-card, Naewna newspaper said today (Sept. 13).

Mr. Saksit Mungkarn, an executive of Siam Royal View Hotel, Koh Chang and chairman of the Tourism Council of Trat province, admitted that the island’s image is currently not very good after photos of a landslide causing a road to collapse circulated last week with this deterring tourists from coming over.

However, cancellations by tourists do not greatly affect tourism operators because this is the low season.

So leave the flooding, build a Moat, and encourage Kayaks to be sold in town so that tourists can paddle around the area while having Kayaking competitions.  Better yet, bring in a bunch of large pigs and create a mud wrestling entertainment venue, where the tourists can get in the ring and roll in the mud....

UP tomorrow : Koh Chang businesses complain of no customers

Koh Chang has for decades experienced landslides, bridges collapsing, streets flooding. Sandfly on the beach swarming, mosquito s infesting resorts situated away from the beach.

It is not surprising that the island has a very short high season.

BUT, I still want to return, it has a charm unique and relaxing.

Best wishes Koh Chang for the upcoming high season and beyond.

Please spare a thought for those who don't own luxury resorts Mr Sakit, and had their bungalows destroyed by the land slides and road collapses yet again, well done to all those involved with efforts to rebuild and clear the road of downed trees, and those who gave the Compulsory order to evacuate those bungalows, last time, some years ago, sadly people  died in the landslides when the same part of the road collapsed, the road is still under repair, but driveable. KC is paradise take care all.

Chang gets heavy rain every September.

Media- lets never be honest.

Yes. September and sometimes into October as well.

Sad for hotel and business operators who have really suffered during these past 2-1/2 years, but it was ridiculous lockdowns and entry conditions / restrictions that really put the boot in, not seasonal weather.
