Daily News Thai Caption: Plans made to catch "Lamut"

An elephant in the Thap Lan national park in central Thailand is facing banishment to the far reaches of the park after terrifying locals, reported Daily News.

"Lamut" has been coming out of the park daily since the beginning of the month to pinch crops and damage homes looking for food.

Lamut is crafty - he switches the time of his forays to baffle park staff.

Every time he is mischievous he returns for more.

Now the local authorities have had enough.

After liaison with park staff a plan has been devised to send him 100 kilometers away to a steep area where he'll effectively be unable to bother people any more.

The ultimate "transfer to an inactive post" suggests ASEAN NOW.
