Masks on flights within Thailand [1] and to/from the EU and other international countries has been optional for while however technically it has been mandated on inbound to Malaysia flights until today.. Good time for a shopping trip to KL me thinks..

Face masks are no longer mandatory on flights, said Malaysia's Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mr Khairy said this protocol would take effect immediately.

He added that the relaxation of the rule is also in line with health recommendations from the European Union, Britain, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

From the same cited article:

"However, he added that the ministry still highly encourages the use of face masks for those who are exhibiting influenza-like symptoms; high-risk individuals like the elderly, those with chronic diseases, those with low immunity and pregnant women; as well as those travelling with high-risk individuals like the elderly and children."

I'm not downplaying COVID in any way, but why are children continually lumped together with the elderly and considered high-risk. It's simply not true with this particular virus.

Probably because a lot of children have not been fully vaccinated thus far. And while serious illness from Omicron in children is relatively rare, there can be cases in children that can be very serious.
