Thai police have seized more than 145 guns, thousands of gun parts, machine tools for making guns and ammunition in recent nation-wide raids.

Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat, the newly-appointed national police chief, told a news conference today (Saturday) that the raids in 50 provinces were part of a ghost gun operation, being carried out by police from the Central Investigation Bureau.

The guns seized include 70 licensed, over 70 unlicensed guns and four “weapons of war”. The remaining items include about 8,900 rounds of ammunition, gun parts and machine tools for producing illegal arms.

Many Thais like guns .

If somebody makes them ' lose face ' , they may use them , not thinking about the consequences ... impulsive , ' non thought through ' actions make them and others suffer .

Leave them their guns , just like in the US they do not want to lose them .

Just do not produce ammunition anymore ...

Wow!! What a crackdown to reap 145 guns!....such excellence from the RTP is outstanding.

Now how about the other 10 million illegal guns out there?

Should sack the entire police force and start again. Seriously, finding 2 guns per province,  total incompetence.

Meanwhile another 30+ were killed on the roads whilst these arrests were being made.

They could get that many in every village...

What does a machine tool for producing illegal guns look like?

"The guns seized include 70 licensed, over 70 unlicensed guns and four 'weapons of war' "

Why seize licensed guns?

Better still do as the Ozzies did after the Port Arthur massacre, no guns, period.

Surely these have been found during an extensive search at one police station of a given district ( excluding Bangkok area obviously)
