snoop1130
BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government has announced three special public holidays on 16-18 November this year in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan for the hosting of APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. These special holidays were approved yesterday at a Cabinet meeting, together with additional measures to address the high cost of living. These special public holidays are meant to reduce traffic congestion, facilitate commute, and ensure the safety of participating leaders, according to Government Spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri. State enterprises, private firms, and the Ministry of Labour can decide whether to adopt these special holidays, while the Bank of Thailand as well as other commercial banks will be open as usual. Government offices will need to consider whether closure during this period will affect public services. The Cabinet also approved additional measures to address the high cost of living, including 422.75 million baht funding for the Ministry of Commerce’s national sales campaign. Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek said this campaign will provide essential items to communities across the country at affordable prices through pop-up events. The Ministry of Commerce aims to source items such as pork, chicken meat, eggs, and farm products from associations, suppliers, and local farmers. It hopes to hold 274 events, with each one lasting at least 3 days.
