Daily News Thai Caption: Power pole hit at bend

 

Phrapradaeng police and rescue services were called after an 18 wheel truck carrying 2.5 tons of NGV (natural gas) at 3,200 PSI overturned in Suksawat Soi 70.

 

Daily News said that an explosion was averted.

 

The driver Worawut from Ayutthaya and passenger Anucha from bangkok, both 31, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Two power poles that carried 69,000 volt wires were brought down.

 

PTT officials were swiftly on the scene to ensure a leak did not occur.

 

But it was eight hours before the soi was opened to traffic again.

 

Worawut said that he lost control at a bend in the road. He was on the way to make a delivery of gas to Thepparak.

I'm trying to imagine how he could flip a truck of that size in a smallish soi unless he was going flat chat or the truck's centre of gravity shifted.

Utter rubbish! These are regular utility poles in a soi and do not carry 69,000 volts!

That is the voltage carried by 100 meter transmission towers, and not one in sight on that soi :)

I suppose at least on the bright side he was honest and did not make anything up.

Right at the start of the that soi it is a sharper then 90' bend followed by some "S" bends. It may look small but soi 70 is the main thoroughfare between Suksawat and PrachaUthit roads and so unfortunately frequented by HGVs

You need to look at the next pole that the downed one is connected to at the top middle of the photo, that is not just a regular phone/internet utility pole.

Yes I saw those and they still do not carry that sort of voltage.  69,000 volts are used on 100 meter high transmission towers.

Sorry maejo man but they are indeed high voltage power lines.
