Daily News Thai Caption: Purple pee for six in saffron

Daily News reported that protection agencies in Samut Prakan went to Thai Ban sub-district where they had received complaints from locals about drug taking by monks at a temple.

A total of 38 monks were obliged to take urine tests and six tested positive with a purple result.

One of the six is just shy of his 70th birthday.

In addition one layperson at the temple also tested positive for drugs.

The monks were summarily defrocked by the abbot and taken away for prosecution and rehab.

Monks in Thailand are definitely different than the monks and other countries know what is about these monks in Thailand but I guess being a monk in Thailand or a policeman in Thailand are probably the two best jobs to have here TIT

Like the general public, not all are the same.

It is what kept him going. Myself, if it weren't for caffeine, I would be in a coma.

Not just Thai monks, how about these "fake" Cambodian monks who have been ripping off the Thais for 10 years to buy drugs!! (8 October 2022) -

Thai authorities have detained five Cambodian men yesterday for having disguised themselves as Buddhist monks and soliciting money for the past 10 years............The fake monks told police that they had asked for public donations every morning and made 200 to 300 baht each. They spent some of the donated money buying methamphetamine pills at 40 baht a piece.

Is anything normal in Thailand.. or is it all screwed up?

Old Timers need need their Yabba Dabba Too!

Can't see why they use the term defrocked ?  Makes them sound like cross dressing strippers. Surely de robed would be better.
