Street car racers in Thailand are warned that they may face imprisonment and hefty fines if more than five of them gather together for illegal races, even if they have not started racing, said Pol Col Prasobchoke Iamphinit, superintendent of Prachachuen police station.

The police officer, accompanied by officials from the Land Transport and Excise departments, went to a gas station near the Prachachuen toll plaza late last night (Saturday), after they received complaints from residents in the neighbourhood of a deafening noise, caused by car engines at the gas station.

The officials checked the engines of several cars and found some of them had been modified for racing and a few of them lacked license plates.

Logic is your friend, the streets obviously aren’t wide enough to have 5 tuktuks racing so they’ll need to use a heat system to qualify for the 4 tuktuk final…

The RTP should be banned from gathering in groups of 5 or more because they are oxygen thieves and large groups lead to greater danger of oxygen deficit in the localised area for the general public.

Just black ball them in the army for 5 years, save putting others in

Nothing like a good incarceration for minor infringements wonder if any were any monks caught revving ????

Payments please....want to use the overhead freeways to race...payment please!

5 people or more...payment please!

This restriction goes back to the junta's 2015 Public Assembly Act and also bans public assemblies between 6pm and 6am. The Parliament who passed that legislation at that time was appointed by the junta.

But in May 2014 after the junta "dissolved" the elected Parliament it had already banned gatherings of more than five people, just hours after the military staged a coup.

This law is undemocratic as it is not the product of a democratic legislature and technically violates the Constitution. It needs to be abolished.

Not the so-called group of street racers were simply gathered for a common interest (no racing had occurred as yet) when forced to disperse. Freedom of assembly and speech without violence is critical to any democratic society.

In the crusher.

All they need to do is seize all the cars/bikes that are involved and  turn them into little metal squares, the threat of loosing their cars/bikes and never getting them back along with no compensation is the only way they will sit up and take notice. These idiots simply ignore the toothless police because they know nothing will happen, the loss of their manhood(cars/bikes) will bring about change very quickly

Why not make a race track open for these 'hoons' to race on.  There must be a fortune in that.

OK if there is one in every town.????

This sounds a bit stupid, how do the cops know that a gathering of cars are racers?

Only if they advertise like making lots of noise right revving engines and too many to loud exhausts and modified engines for racing.

Then fine ,Book em and crush the vehicles.

5 is a nice round number.????????
