Football - EPL side Aston Villa have appointed Unai Emery as manager following the sacking of Steven Gerrard.


Former Arsenal boss Emery, who had been in charge of Spanish club Villarreal, will take over at Villa at the beginning of next month. Villa have paid a near 7m Euro  buyout fee to Villarreal for the 50-year-old. 

 

In last night's EPL action West Ham United moved out of the relegation zone after beating Bournemouth 2-0.

 

Cricket - An inspired performance in the field led Bangladesh to a nine-run victory over the Netherlands in their Super 12s opener in the Men's T20 World Cup. Defending 144, Tigers fast bowler Taskin Ahmed took two wickets with the first two balls of Netherlands' chase who were all out for 135.


The South Africa v Zimbabwe match was abandoned due to heavy rain. Zimbabwe had scored 79-5 and in reply South Africa were 51 without loss when the match was stopped.Both sides get one point each.
