webfact
By Editor In a surprise for many locals, the arrival of heavy equipment has seen the Cha-Am viewpoint, a very significant feature of the central Cha-Am beach viewpoint, now becoming a construction site. A visit on Thursday 2nd November, revealed the early stages of a project which workers on-site say will see an extension and beautification of the viewpoint with an improved surface, lighting and other features. The Cha-Am Municipality remains silent on this development and no signage is visible at the site. The viewpoint has long been the focus of events such as food festivals, markets, concerts and the occasional Muay Thai tournament as well as private occasions such as weddings or corporate events. The downside to this project may relate to timing, with the arrival this month of an eagerly awaited high season and with workers saying the contractual obligations allow for the completion to take up to 12 months. The viewpoint project follows recent changes to the beach with the construction of steps along the coastline descending down to the beach aiming to address the issues of the beach erosion. With the viewpoint makeover now taking place behind the statue of Prince Narathip looking back down the main beach approach road, let’s hope that the founding father of modern Cha-Am will approve these changes to one of the region’s main tourism attractions. hotchilli
Clear the vendors off of beach road so people can actually sit on the beach without having to rent a table/chair or umbrella and buy cr#p food.
