The number of both foreign and Thai tourists traveling to Chiang Mai province, Thailand, have significantly increased during the Thai’s Loi Krathong or Yipeng Festival, which will be held from 7-9 November 2022.

Chiang Mai Airport is expected to receive 21,000 passengers per day during this season, shared the director of Chiang Mai Airport, Mr. Wichit Kaewsaitiam.

It is heartening to see the city coming back to life. So many small businesses have been badly hit for such a long time and hopefully this will mark the beginning of their return to earning a living. Without tourism this city has little going for it so we can live in hopes of a continuing revival.

So instead of having two years to consider a different business plan they sat around waiting for tourists to come back and possibly suffer the same fate in the future?

A large number of tourists in Thapae and riverside last night. Outnumbered however by Thais. It was very crowded. Unsurprisingly Tourists were unmasked but Thais and, I suspect farang residents nearly all wearing masks.
