<<Women concerns ...

well, that comment brought a smile to my face.

i can remember waaaay back, when i'd eavesdrop on my aunt and mother talking about 'womens concerns' in hushed voices.

sounded so deep and dark and mysterious.

then not so mysterious when i myself got 'women concerns'

apologies ... i'll slink away now ... :-)

... ok, ok, ok, so's not to leave it like that, how about 'opinionated ferang women'?

or ...

IN THAILAND: Farang women, opinionated and proud ...

or ...

Farang Women in Thailand: hear us roar!

[ok, it's past pillow time, so i'm done for now]

Please, theCatat, do not scare the men off.

More than they are... :o:D

search engine ranking.

and if we were really smart, we'd all put 'farang and thai women' in our sigs :-)

don't like that? how about hit the search engines coming and going with ...

farang and thai 'women > ladies > girls' in thailand

Good idea, does it also help when posting in other sections of thaivisa?

I mean mentioning that Thai Farang women girls ladies talk with other thai farang women girls ladies in this thai farang women girl ladies forum? :o

I second this suggestion

I reckon we should keep it as is, but add to the forum description that all girls are welcome!

and also men/boys/guys/male human beings, etc :o

as long as they are gentlemen though :D

I think that may be taking things to the extreme :D

But I do think changing the main title to include all groups of women posting in TV, so farang, thai, expat women has to feature. How about farang, thai, expat, tourist, women, girls, lesbians, bisexual, transgender, chicks, birds, sheilas, totty, bitches, babes in Thailand forum :D:o

bluecat,

hmmm. a good point. [but that was 'the cat at the end of the night' talking]

in saying that, this forum has opened my eyes wide on how 'scared' some men are of women with an opinion that hasn't been phrased to pamper and pet. i'm not criticizing as i'm all for learning how to pamper and pet , but that's clearly another topic.

soooo, back to the forum title ... how about ...

Ferang Women in Thailand:

Thai women and all [gentle] men welcome

the above should cover the search engines just fine. Ferang, Women, Thailand, Thai, men. with the 'gentle' being a sweet reminder :-)

ps: search engine ranking. it's what i do [in part], for a living.

so here's 'the cat at the beginning of her day', tiptoeing softly [or not] as she goes, for another cuppa.

I rather like the name as it is, because as a farang woman in Thailand, that is exactly what drew me to the site in the first place. I don't think there is anything exclusionary at all about having a farang woman's chat site in Thailand, as we are foreigners and women here, with a unique set of circumstances, and this is an expat website. If we were exclusionary, we would discourage others from posting, but we don't, and we shouldn't. However, if this site ceases to be a domain for farang women's issues, then we won't have one anymore.

But, that being said, I do think a website where expat and Thai women can discuss issues would be really cool. Is it possible to create another site in addition to this one?

when i first saw the discussion title 'Changing The Name - To Girls In Thailand', i thought NOOooo! then after reading further, slapped myself down. [ooohh the guilt]

but the true reality is i agree with everything kat posted. especially the 'if this site ceases to be a domain for farang women's issues, then we won't have one anymore'.

it's not being mean spirited. thai women have a whole support system in their countrymen, ferang women in thailand do not have the same privilege. this site looks like it could be a big part of it, but only if it continues to grow in that direction.

i'm not suggesting that thais stay out of the support structure. i'm just saying that chatting with those from a similar culture is very much needed, and that's what i thought this forum was supposed to be about. take that uniqueness away, and it'll become just another forum in thailand.

I would not worry much about that.

The number of Thai women who can and will write in a English speaking forum is very, very small.

But these few ones could give to the farang women a Thai woman perspective.

Which they won't now because of the forum name,...

<<The number of Thai women who can and will write in a English speaking forum is very, very small. ... Which they won't now because of the forum name,...

so all of this is for a "very, very small" group, given the chance that it will change the purpose of the whole forum?

you know, i'm new here, but iv'e never seen thai women unwelcome in this forum. and maybe if i go over to the 'gays in thailand forum', i won't be unwelcome there either. who knows. but the 'gays in thailand' forum was set up for a purpose, as was this one.

this title hasn't kept men out, so why would it keep thai women out? besides, thai women don't seem to have a problem posting all over the internet, regardless of title. so i'll just have to assume it's #1 too soon for this forum as forums take awhile to take hold, and/or #2 they really aren't interested in giving their perspective on the issues of western women in thailand.

What ever name is decided. I hope Shopgurl joins us!

She rocks! :o

What ever name is decided. I hope Shopgurl joins us!

She rocks!  :o

ditto from me. shopgurl is fabulous :-]

and since she's already posting around and about under the 'thai visa, thailand expat forum' umbrella, why would 'farang girls in thailand' turn her off? or any thai girls for that matter, after reading the existing banner but coming in anyway?

cat calling shopgurl to please stand up and say a few ...

"Under that heading, we can propose subject titles that also specifically engage Thai women in relation to farang women, and all women. "

And I also want to make explicitly clear, we can also propose subjects that engage farang women in relation to Thai women, and women in relation to all women.

how about calling it 'Thai and Falang Girls In Thailand' ??

I just posted a whole long post a few minutes ago, and then thought I was editing one small part of it after posting, and erased the whole ###### post except the edited bit. That's why my previous post doesn't make much sense. I give up. I still haven't figured out the economical quote, where you just quote small excerpts without the whole thing. Anyway, I give up today. Nothing like an erased post or email to put you right to sleep.

cheers, talk later.

So, Boo, what's the conclusion?

So, Boo, what's the conclusion?

Think it’ll be a bit like the Australian referendum :o:D

Think you are right, Nat. Boo? What's the result? Or is the lack of a name change the result?

I think a name change is on the cards, just thinking about the best way forward now. Will do another poll I think at the weekend with the best contenders, so anymore suggestions, you better get in quick. :o
