Popular Post webfact
Daily News Thai Caption: Inappropriate! Daily News reporters went to the "go to" monk for religious comment after the Buddhist faithful were commenting in droves on posts coming from Nakhon Sawan. There a well known monk had been featured on a Facebook post by a second hand car dealer. Phra "Luang Poo Phat" was behind the wheel of a red sports car. Picture: Daily News An amulet/medal was struck with the car on the back to protect people from accidents. Phra Phayom - abbot of Wat Suan Kaew in Nonthaburi - said it was all highly inappropriate. Picture: Daily News Material possessions like this should not be associated with the monkhood and the Buddhist faithful should not be taking part in such activity. It was all highly irreligious and not what Buddhism stands for at all. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-17 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. OneMoreFarang
Will now all the faithful stop donating to this "monk"? Will they ask him how he can afford such an expensive car? Or is it part of being a good Buddhist not to ask such questions? Somehow I would be surprised if this guy was until now a "good monk".
KhunBENQ
The decay of Buddhism seems to go hand in hand with the decay of the other pillar. We have a temple nearby and the family does not visit/donate. (have misc vehicles of which one SUV is cleaned to perfection daily by some "volunteer", air-conditioned library(?), misc satellite dishes, the third temple building with a lot of gold) Instead family sticks to another one which is far out in the forest and seems to be a bit more "traditional".

ezzra
The monkhood, or most of it now, has become like any other business and in need to solicit funds to survive, so car depicted on amulets its not a surprise, i'll wait for the one with a half naked bar girl on it and i just might buy one for fun...
Denim
My grandad used to say : Where there's muck , there's money Something similar holds for Thailand : Where there's monks there's money

Stargeezr
Looked more like a badge than an amulet. Amulets do not have cars on them. Harvey
Kwasaki
Well i thought envy of another Monk would be inappropriate for a Monk too.
