Australian Aged Pension
I didn't return to Australia for 2 years prior as I had commitments in Thailand. I'm now 80 years old, worked for the Department of Defense all my working life. I also did military service, I have an Australian Service medal and I still don't qualify. Need I say my thoughts about Australia, a once great country of which we were lucky to spend our childhoods in. -

Hi, I have a friend coming to Thailand in January for one month. I stay in Jomtien but he prefers being closer to the malls and good choice of restaurants. Previously , he’s often vacationed in Phuket over the years but fed up of the endless rain , crowds , and’ certain nationalities. He needs a nice quality studio and good sunny pool , security, and not in a high rise .up to 12 floors ok. not interested in ladies or men. I visited City Garden when it was built. Considered renting but preferred Jomtien around soi 9. I remember that the pool looked very small ?? Any ideas welcome, Central Festival and Term 21 in easy reach. Good pool as he swims a lot, quality Studio , English TV channels / Netflix , Security, not bothered by great view from studio. Around 40 000, Baht month which is what he was paying in Phuket., Thanks +++ -

I've got a Pommy mate, complains when it's drizzling, he moans about the heat to 😂 I love the drizzly, it keeps things cool, it's nice to ride my PCX when it's spitting/drizzling, best ride ever. -

Thai Baht Exchange Rate So Low How Are You Dealing With It?
Yes, it's not a pleasant situation. I exchanged dollars for Baht a few times-over the last year or so and built up a bit of Baht reserves. Most of the exchanges were done in the 35-37 range. But I've stopped exchanging for now and probably won't do any more until perhaps the Baht loses some strength again and hopefully gets back to around 34.5 to the dollar. This might happen once the BOT starts cutting Thai interest rates. For the moment the dollar could continue to weaken though. In just 4 months, since May 1, the Baht has gone from 37 to only 33 to the dollar. So the dollar has lost 10% against the Baht so far. But I do think it should now hold somewhere around 33. My prediction during this past summer was that it would fall to 33 by the end of the year, once the Fed started cutting interest rates, but that drop happened even quicker than expected. The Baht may swing a bit lower still against the dollar, but eventually it should get back to around a base of 33 I hope. The BOT should also start cutting interest rates soon too, maybe within the next 3 months, which will then weaken the Baht again and hopefully push the dollar back up a bit and back to around 34.5 to the dollar. Fingers crossed we don't revisit those days of 29-31 Baht to dollar range. The 10% drop in dollar value has probably badly hurt local exports and tourism already, which are two of the biggest segments of the Thai economy. So I'm would think the government is not so pleased about the sharp rise of the Baht either. -

Pickup Truck Carrying Chicken Meat Crashes into Trailer Truck, Driver Killed
Picture from responders. Police received a report of a fatal collision on September 20 at approximately 05.15, involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler trailer truck on Highway 21, Lopburi-Lom Sak Road. The incident occurred near kilometre marker 36, in the downhill direction towards Saraburi, on a dark stretch near Khwang Hill, Moo 8, Dilang Subdistrict, Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province. The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Upon receiving the report, Police Lieutenant Thanapol Kaewbriwong of Kok Salung Police Station, along with Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers equipped with extraction tools, rushed to the scene to investigate. The crash occurred on a two-lane road on a hill without streetlights. Authorities found a white Toyota Vigo pickup truck with a cargo box, carrying fresh chicken meat. The truck's front end was severely damaged, and inside, the body of Mr. Jamlong (surname withheld), 33, of Phrommanee Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province, was pinned in the driver's seat. Rescue workers had to use extraction tools to recover the body. About 20 metres away, police discovered the other vehicle involved, a white Isuzu 18-wheeler trailer truck, with a minor rear-end damage. The driver, Mr. Jaroon (surname withheld), 55, of Saraburi, was waiting to give his statement to the police. Mr. Jaroon told police that he regularly drives this route, and before the crash, he was hauling teak bark to Wang Muang District. While slowly climbing a hill in the left lane, he heard a loud crash as the pickup truck behind him slammed into the back of his trailer. He parked his truck on the side of the road and, upon inspecting the scene, saw the front of the pickup completely crushed. He immediately called the police. Initial investigations suggest that the pickup truck was likely transporting fresh chicken from a factory in Muang Khom, Chai Badan District, Lopburi, heading towards Nakhon Nayok. Traveling at high speed, the pickup truck crashed into the slower-moving trailer truck on the dimly lit hill. Mr. Jaroon has been detained for further questioning and legal proceedings. The deceased's body has been sent to a nearby hospital for an autopsy, following standard legal procedures. -- 2024-09-21 -

Since joining this forum, I've noticed FOREIGNERS are complainers, they never stop whinging and whining, moaning and complaining, constantly, then they want to change Thailand, make it the same crap hole they left beind. It's stupid and childish. -

Best Unlimited Wifi.
Hi there, I've been having problems with my one year unlimited wifi access. I've come across a few which haven't gone the full 12 months. After a period of time I got a message stating my connection is out of money. Any suggestions which is the best wifi that goes the full one year and is unlimited use. Thanks -
