@norbra  Theres a hospital chain I think located all over Thailand called "Princ Hospital" (Prince spelled without the "e"). I just googled one of them https://www.princsuvarnabhumi.com/en/  . We went to a Princ Hospital near Chiang Mai a few months ago and purchased moderna. There was no line, no wait, I think they even accept walk-ins

The new version is called Bivalent.  I got it at a pharmacy in Southern California in late September.  It had just became available to anyone over 50 in the US.

In the EU, the currently approved bivalent Covid-19 vaccines are the following:

Comirnaty® Bivalent Original / Omicron BA.1 (Pfizer/BioNTech)

Comirnaty® Original / Omicron BA.4/5 (Pfizer/BioNTech)

Spikevax® Bivalent Original / Omicron BA.1 (Moderna)

Which bivalent vaccine did you get in California in September?

That is the original Moderna vaccine. Not what OP is asking about.

OP: the new bivalent vavcine is not available in Thailand and I have not heard of any plans to import it.

If you're looking for a first or second shot I'm pretty sure that Bumrungrad still have them. That said, When I got Covid myself a few weeks ago (despite 2 x AZ and 2 x Moderna), I went to a local hospital in the Bangkok 'burbs and was given the new antiviral drug from Merck called Molnupiravir, and it's amazing.

Taking 4 capsules every 12 hours for 5 days, I went from wanting to die to fairly OK on the third day, normal on the 4th day, and a negative ATK test and completely clear on the 5th day. My specialist at Bumrungrad said there's no need for any more boosters, and that they now recommend taking Molnuvirapir whenever you get Covid (which apparently we'll all get somewhat frequently, like a cold), just as you'd take Tamiflu for a bad case of influenza.

I've heard that you can now buy it OTC at some pharmacies for about 4,000 baht per 40 capsule course, though I cannot confirm that yet. It can be obtained from some clinics, and I've now got a few in the fridge just in case.

Off topic but cannot find answers anywhere

.I am searching for a Bangkok hospital who can provide 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine,Bangkok Hospital do not have any.

Any help appreciated

Both Bumrungrad Hospital and Dr. Donna (Can't remember her clinic,, but you can google "Dr. Donna Bangkok") were  both advertising Moderna vaccines a couple of weeks ago.

Obviously not free.

You could call them, or maybe other hospitals in BKK to see if any still available.

Also. I don't know if this is any good, but I saw it on Lazada.

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/e-voucher-moderna-i2811791349-s10481541050.html?spm=a2o4m.tm80167383.6075338590.1.3ff1iOgXiOgXRk.3ff1iOgXiOgXRk&priceCompare=skuId%3A10481541050%3Bsource%3Alazada-om%3Bsn%3A259992e2-a3c3-4519-b9b2-32773c7e7c93%3BoriginPrice%3A165000%3BvoucherPrice%3A165000%3Btimestamp%3A1669338080646

I recall, people were selling their Moderna Vouchers on Lazada a while ago, so maybe legit.

  • 1 month later...

Todays "can not quote" news source reports no plans for 2023 to import any bivalent vaccine for government use.  Will continue to use first generation vaccine/medications.  No information if 2nd generation can/will be imported privately.
