Stranded World Cup fans offered full refunds after housing didn't have toilets or wash basins

A general view of a fan village is seen Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022 in Doha, Qatar. Qatar unveiled a 6,000-cabin fan village in an isolated lot near its airports, an offering for housing toward the lower end of what's available for the upcoming World Cup just days away from starting. Stranded World Cup fans who hoped to stay in "fan villages" are being offered full refunds by the Supreme Committee in charge of organizing the event, according to ESPN.

Those fans were left without acceptable accommodations after "fan village" sites were left without basic amenities, like toilets and wash basins. The "fan villages" were constructed to allow World Cup fans to attend the event cheaply.

What do you expect for £200 (8500 baht) a night!

Apparently there are some toilets but they could be anything up to one kilometer away from your  accommodation. Which admittedly would be a bit of a pain if you need a pee in the middle of the night!

Well, with beer being unavailable, there will be a lot less peeing.

Since they are a giant litter box, I'd be tempted to just pretend I was a cat.

So, are they also being offered acceptable standards of accommodation at the same price or are they expected to pay a higher price for such?

What do you mean, if?

Look suspiciously like work camp trailers that I've stayed in many times in the lands of sand.

And I didn't have to pay for them.

Will they be expected to buy US$25 tents like the homeless in the US use?

Serves them right. Anyone with a minimal sense of morals would have boycotted this world cup! Corruptly obtained, nonsense from an energy consumption POW, and built thanks to the death of thousands of people. Shame on the FIFA and its supporters!

Granting the World cup to Qatar was a historic mistake, and symbolic of the extreme corruption within the failed FIFA.

I very much doubt it - owing to the strict Laws there, they would probably be charged within tent, to defame the host nation...

Personally, I would urinate in the World Cup and give it a sheik afterwards.

That entire region is a farce. A bad joke. Brutes and barbarians with money. Without the extremely good fortune of sitting on all that oil (and western countries schooling them on extraction)...would be nothing more than a sandbox with sand farmers.

If they were converted shipping containers, which are made of steel, wouldn't it be kinda hot in them with that sun beating down all day?

Who in their right mind would pay $200 a day for that?

Bit harsh ?

I was led to believe that Equality, Human rights and inclusivity were the buzzwords celebrated at the behest of the most "generous" host nation, this time around.

Why, I even heard that even the most lowly, common thieves were informed that if they had any qualms pertaining to the World Cup, they would be allowed to have a show of hands before, and were encouraged to vote with their feet after sentencing, if their convictions were justified.

No sense of humor these petty muslims - banning the crusader get up !
