Locals have reported seeing a van driving around the Wawee sub-district suspiciously and there are fears that the boy is a victim of a gang stealing children, reported Thai Rath. The child is special needs called Channathip Chermeu, aged 2 and 2 months. His parents Asoh, 37, and Bocher, 26, were out working at a coffee plantation. The pre-school child was under the care of his grandmother and had just come home with two elder male siblings after their gran collected them from school. The gran was washing up and the other two boys were in the house while the littlest one was playing with a pet dog outside. He went missing without a trace. Locals mobilized a search party but by next morning he had not been found. I remember the Mirror group, who are active in searching for missing persons, tried to follow this up in Isan. But they never found anyone who had seen the vans themselves or whose child had been abducted. It was always someone in the next village. Children can go missing of course but until they can pinpoint the kidnappers or the van, they might be better off searching thoroughly in the local area around the home? They need to find one who actually saw it and can describe it and say what was suspicious about it, where the registration was from etc. No direct connection to the missing child.
