Siam Rath reported that one person died and ten other people were injured when a public minibus collided with the hook of a crane on the Ban Bung to Chonburi road heading to Chonburi last night.

It was the Bangkok to Trat service and happened around 8.30 pm.

Given CpR at the scene where the minibus had overturned was 32 year old Phannipha who succumbed to her injuries.

The rest of the passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Thongchai, 51, the crane driver said he was entering the main road returning to a company in Bang Saen.

As he did so the hook on his crane poked out and the van hit it flipping and splittings its roof. The cran span round.

Ban Bung police are studying CCTV and interviewing both drivers to fully understand what happened.

How often have we seen truck cranes going along roads with their main hook dangling?

It should be attached to the front of the truck and tensioned......but being so damn lazy....it's easier to do nothing other than winching it up and leave it swinging.

Puts being run over in a hit and run on a zebra crossing but surviving into perspective I guess

Never ever in all my life have I seen a crane hook dangling like that.

Ignorance and a couldn't careless attitude towards safety is my guess

Thais don't often have the opportunity to see something large swinging in front of them.

Only 30 amulets from the mirror

I recall how I used to make the joke as a kid that cranes were pulling themselves along, when they were on the roads with the hook tethered to the front of the cab. Just another example of the stupidity and laziness here of these drivers. Didn't we have a spate of bad accidents with trucks losing their containers because drivers weren't locking them down a while back?

Sorry Joe, but I for one see it very often here.

If you do you do. Not saying it doesn't happen. Thailand is the hub of mad stuff. On my 1st trip to Thailand I was shocked to see 3 Elephants walking on a crossover on a motorway.
