I won 4000 Baht. 2,000 per ticket and I had 2 tickets. You put your name on the back and cash them in. A friend took me down in case of any difficulties but there were none.

OK I believe you . But why cant they , the lottery office , give us the names of the big winners?

Officially its to protect their identity, so who won 2 mill baht last month ? I try to google but so far no names have been published since the lottery started in 1939.

Maybe the winners are all Thai officials

I won a healthy chunk of cash earlier this year. I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the lottery. No problems redeeming once I found out where to go (pretty much every person outside the official office attempts to part you from the winning tickets...).

No problems with the little old lady with whom I spend my 25 Baht twice a month. Doesn't look much like a lottery ticket, just a carbon paper copy of my number. Always pays if I'm lucky enough to have a win. :jap:

ive won a few times,no proplem on collecting winnings.ps tip 1/9 for the two numbers tommorow.

Nah it's 749. A Fortuner with those last 3 numbers crashed into the crash barrier next to our house last week. He was ok, just asleep at the wheel.

It is a big scam, my wife keeps saying the only people that win are the government. It's not made to pay out, just make money.

Did you see the numbers on the 11/11/2011. They came out as all 7's. They knew everyone would be buying tickets with 1's in it.

It's a complete con.........Doesn't stop me doing it though

Actually according to SWMBO, people were backing 777 on the other lottery. The PM was seen in a car with 777 on the plate. Police stopped people trying to get her room number in the hospital for today's draw. She does have her uses.

I have played ONCE and did so for a specific reason; I told a couple of Thai friends about a bizarre series of events (it's a long story that involves the same number appearing over and over again) who advised me to play the lottery.

I won 10x40.000 (400.000). Needless to say, they were all shocked in awe. "The Farang has got the magic!!" I have to admit that the circumstances freaked me out a bit as well when I realised that I'd won.

For 3 months I had every Thai person I know asking me for details and whereabouts. Street numbers, phone numbers etc. When I bought a motorcycle every Thai I know played the numbers on my license plate. I caught the gardener going through my trash for number details in my mail. I remember one night at a bar the week after I won, I picked up the tab and the guy who sells lottery tickets came up and asked what the total was, and then checked his available tickets to see if he had that number... The first month I even had phone calls from people I had never spoke to, they were all asking for numbers.

I have not played again.

You gave her a 2500 baht tip for trying to rip you off? No wonder Thais think farang are idiots.

They not just think, they know it.

The very first time I played the lottery my GF chose the ticket (that by itself took a long time) and I paid for it. We won 2,000 baht and split it 50-50. Needless to say after that she insisted I was 'lucky' and had to play nearly every time, except when the draw dates clashed with 'unlucky' numbers like family death anniversaries and similar mumbo-jumbo.

We never won again in over four years! I know because I held the tickets and checked the numbers.

How 'lucky was that?:(

We must have a lucky pickup truck. We've won twice this year on the other lottery backing the last 3 numbers on the plate.
