A former U.S. Court of Appeals judge who played a critical role in the Jan. 6 committee hearings said he is confident that a potential criminal conviction of former President Donald Trump would be upheld by the Supreme Court and any judge would have no choice but to sentence Trump to federal prison.

“I don’t know that a district judge would have any choice but to sentence the former president to imprisonment under the terms and provisions of these various offenses,” retired U.S. Court of Appeals Judge J. Michael Luttig said in a wide-ranging interview on the Yahoo News “Skullduggery” podcast.

Luttig, who for years was considered one of the leading conservative jurists in the country and who testified last summer as a star witness in the committee’s hearings, also said that he sees “poetic justice” in the panel’s investigation.

Do they have an orange suit to fit him?

Orange match!  Hair and suit.  Picture perfect.

Senators 'alarmed' as DOJ continues to block Congress' access to Mar-a-Lago classified files

Without explanation the Department of Justice has continued to block the Senate Intelligence Committee from accessing the highly classified documents that former President Donald Trump was storing at his Mar-a-Lago property.

According to Punchbowl News, there is equally shared bipartisan outrage with the DOJ keeping Congress at arm's length from accessing the documents, leaving Congress in the dark of vulnerabilities and comprised information, especially to foreign entities at such a critical time in international relations on several fronts.

The survey says it all

Let us hope that he is indeed sent to prison we all know if a regular person did what trump did it would be a minimum of 20 yrs or more not to mention the many lives and careers he has fecklessly destroyed many would rejoice

Do the planet a favor....Lock him up!

Not sure if it's possible but he may be able to dodge prison with some kind of grand plea deal that is designed to preserve the American normality of not jailing presidents. But for that he would need to admit guilt and Trump doesn't do that, so ...

The chances of him being sent to the big house have been increased because of how much weaker he has been politically including of course own goals such as Dine Kampf.

There will be fear in the DOJ that convicting him could spark a civil war but as his support is slipping away, not that much.

LOL. I've been hearing on this forum for the past 6 years that the next "big thing" is going to see Trump in jail. Not happened obviously. Will it happen? Anything is possible but is it likely? Not IMO.

I don't think it will either but Trump is now a spent force and the longer the GOP are split on that issue the more it's going to hurt them.

Heck Trump deserves life in prison.

He arguably deserves the guillotine for treason.

But jailing ex presidents is so radically outside American norms (as was trump of course).

So it will continue to appear unlikely unless and until it happens.
