Pattaya Memorial Hospital or Queen Sirikit in Sattahip?

Is there a big difference in 2022?

Memorial is 7 minutes away and Queen Sirikit Hospital is over 50 minutes away but a local doc was talking them up.

I think Memorial is much faster service when there, as QSH is government?

And This is more check up phase.  (Urologist)

But I'm afraid I may have to go 4 or 5 days in a row for specific treatment.  Which would mean I'm also

I'm trying to gather if the price and treatment is that much better (if any) there, because without blinking I'm spending 10 hours on a bike over 5 days (plus extended waiting room time)

and I have obligations to fulfill that that that kind of time loss would also equate to loss of money.

Besides this doctor, I've never heard anything about QSH at all.  so I don't even know if they are cheaper or better.

Opinions?  or dealings with either Hospital?

Thank you.  Yes, I've also used them for a broken bone.  I have no real complaints.

But I don't have many comparisons though.  Only other hospital visits were at the Soi Buakhao which had lengthy waits everyday since governemnt.

But Proximity is huge benefit if I have to go 4-5 days in a row.

Nearly all large hospitals here are OK or good at treating routine conditions, things they see and treat every day. It's when things get into tricky areas that aren't routine that patients really need to start to think about the doctor rather than the hospital. So, chose the doctor first and then go and get treated by him/her at whichever hospital he/she works at.

So go to any hospital, get the prognosis, then hunt for doctor?

I need to find a Urologist if you got that in your files.  May have to make a seperate post actually.

Nearly all hospitals these days have the CV's/resume's of available doctors on their web sites You could start by looking there to try and find someone who graduated from a good university, is the age and sex you want and also somebody who has overseas training and experience. Or you could ask around for referrals, Sheryl in the medical/Health forum will almost certainly know somebody who is qualified. I really wouldn't just walk into a hospital and see who-ever the receptionist sends you to, in many hospitals that could easily turn out to be a medical student.

Memorials urologist isn't new.  Might be too OLD actually ha.  45 years experience I read.  Sometimes they don't keep up to date enough with what's currently available and having success.

If you might need a specialist I'd check Memorial and International websites to see who works there, if in doubt go to Bangkok Pattaya or Bangkok Jomtien.

Memorial and International are not busy hospitals, their specialists work elsewhere usually govt hospitals

Sirikit's a good hsp, and inexpensive, but, without bothering about details, you don't have time to deal with Sirikit.

I suggest this urologist at Bangkok Pattaya Hsp:

https://www.bangkokpattayahospital.com/en/doctor-profile?v_id=205&depid=28

He has a good rep. Not expensive to consult.

Thank you so much.

Have you Heard anything about the queens hospital or BKK Jomtien hospitals as well?

Heard goodthings about BKK Jomtien?  I have Not heard any good or bad about them personally.  Only usually that BKK pattaya is outrageously priced.

"queens?" Sirikit is Queen Sirikit. Maybe you mean Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital in Siricha? Been there a couple of times for minor things, was quite OK. Thais respect it. But I think you'd have the same problem as with Sirikit. You wouldn't have time, given your schedule. First you'd probably have to see a generalist, then get another appt to see the specialist. That could be weeks away. After the first appt, the second could be weeks away. And you have the waiting times in the hsp. Will take half a day, at least, every time, even if you have an appt.

It also helps to speak some Thai or have a Thai speaker with you at gov't hsps. The doc probably speaks enough English; the problem is to get to the doc.

Dunno anything about BKK Jomtien.

Yep on here or Facebook at Jomtien it was good service and cheaper than BPH and no nurse bill padding.

Don't forget to buy any meds outside the private hospitals

Yes, sorry, in the morning I was typing this out in many replies.  Queen Hospital in Sirikit was the one I was referring to and asking about if someone had any experience to share.

I'm getting the impression is that I go to first, almost any first close proximity hospital and get  a general idea of issues and then seek out the specialist I would prefer.

Unless I'm unable to google it, when I search Bangkok Hosptital Jomtien I only find "Jomtien Hospital".   Absolutely nothing showing BKK in it.

is JH actually Bangkok Jomtien Hospital?

I did contact JH and they do not have a urologist at all.

Thanks for the med purchase advice too

Yes that's the one people were talking about, apparently owned by Bangkok Hospital but i can see no signage to suggest that, anyway if no specialist there then that's it

QSH is a navy hospital, so all non armed forces pay, but always big Queues.

Feedback so far is great facilities and modern equipment and great pricing, but

also long waits (especially first time) and to take a translator as few speak English.

(and also pretty far for multiple visits)

Having been there it was difficult and frustrating not being able to speak Thai, they would happily let you stand there all day and not come to help. Even the "English speaker" at the help desk couldn't speak English, i gave up on that and used google translate. If you have high blood pressure don't go

?? Maybe but why.

We're talking about Sirikit, right? I go there, I need to see a generalist or minor specialist. That requires a long wait. See him, get preliminary talk, get another appt at least 2 weeks later to see the real specialist. Then another long wait when I get to the hsp for that appt. Seems the normal procedure. I've never seen an uncrowded waiting room at Sirikit. If you have an appt for 8 AM, you might actually see the doc at 11 AM.
