Disposing of an old scooter

TTSIssues

Recommended Posts

My apologies if this is a daft question but I have an old scooter that I no longer need, for me it’s past economical repair needing a new carb, sorting a minor fuel leak, needs new tyres etc.

any suggestions as to what I can do with it? I see plenty dumped at the roadside but I am NOT going to do that. I would happily give it to a motorbike shop for them to fix up and use or sell on, but what can I do about the green book? The scooter is in my name, and to transfer it to anyone else is a real hassle as the bike doesn’t run, but if I just give it to someone with the book, and they rack up tickets / fines / run around committing crimes with it etc I clearly don’t want to be responsible for that.

Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this please?

or anyone want a scooter ? ????

many thanks

If you want to do it correctly...

Visit your local DLT and hand in green book and number plate for them to cancel...

Then leave it by the roadside !

Best to cancel the registration to avoid troubles coming back to you being the owner, and than maybe give to a motorcycle repair shop to try to salvage what ever they can out of it...
