For many...many years they ushered folks into getting flu vaccines because you know 🙄

This year the flu is a "new" variation & your flu shot from last year is no good now.

Now they do the same with covid except as you said they name each new variant with a Hollywood horror show name to get you attention.

Exactly why did you use scare quotes around the word new in relation to the flu. Do you believe that the prevalent flu viruses are the same each year?

Comprehension lacking there?

Everyone knows there are countless variations year after year,,,covid will be the same storm in a teacup

But some folks (you likely) should run right in each & every time for your "new" booster 😉

The flu virus and its variants are a lot more stable than the covid virus and its variants. Not the same situation at all.

The newer boosters, which take aim at both the original virus and the BA.4/BA.5 variants common this summer, are more protective against XBB.1.5 than earlier boosters. People who are up to date on their COVID-19 shots probably don't shed as much virus for as long, so they're also less likely to pass it on, experts said.

Past infection provides some protection against severe disease, but that protection is highly unreliable, experts added.
