The entry of 2014 coup leader Prayut Chan-o-cha into Ruam Thai Saang Chart Party (United Thai Nation Party – UTN) will not help the party achieve the required 25 seats to be able to nominate Prayut to the Prime Ministership post, the self-exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said.

 

Thaksin, who returned to his bi-weekly talk for the 1st time in nearly a month, said that despite Prayut joining the UTN, the newly formed party may not be able to get the required 25 seats to be able to nominate Prayut as the 30th Prime Minister of Thailand after the next general election that is slated to take place no later than May 7th, 2023.

 

“As I have predicted, they will not get to 25 seats,” Thaksin said.

 

Thaksin said the UTN will face an uphill battle if they want to get at least 25 MP seats as they are a new party without “proper tools” and they will also have a hard time finding enough allies to form a government since the PPRP will most likely get only 35 MP seats.

Prayut now out of his comfort zone, Prawit too old to know what day it is. it's starting to look more like a clear run for Anutin.. and he can't make a decision.

there is always hope that those voters switching from the former junta parties will go for future forward and not thaksin parties.

there are rumours for over a year now, that thaksin is planning coalition with prawit as the PM.

Mr. P. will get as many seats as he wants, just the same as before.....he will buy them, or rig the vote....simple.

You might be inquiring the reasons why?

As it's profitable in one form or another. 

While the Future Forward party has not shown itself as more wily than the dinosaurs, it hasn't gone to the dark side yet. People like them because they seemed to offer a New Hope.

If they win (unlikely) it won't achieve too much without its founder and inspiration. 

People here like the status quo. I'm sure they will get a lot of the young vote, but i can't figure how they will out-fox the old foxes.

You're wrong about Anutin but right about Thailand. Anutin makes decisions all the time. The problem is they more often than not end up being the (very) wrong one.

But hey, what can we expect in a country where who and not what you know is all that matters.

Well anyone one with half a brain cell knows this Muppet is on his way out. The big question is which Muppet will be replacing him, providing he who cant be name agrees.

2. He is still the single biggest entity in Thai elections - whomever he nominates, wins - hardly a trait of a has been.

3. His party is going to win the next election, 17 years after he was ousted in a coup he still utterly dominates. The fact that you are here, commenting on Thaksin, shows that he is far from finished (when is the last time Abhisit was relevant?)

4. Interpol hasn’t the slightest interest in pursuing Thaksin for they don’t pursue individuals convicted by biased courts of trumped up charges by illegal coup installed regimes persecuting their far more popular political opponents.

Yet the old elite act terrified/have a hissy fit every time his name comes up, which begs the question; if he is "a has been" why does this happen?
