Thai media Siam Rath were contacted by a man called Korakot, 27, who said that his girlfriend Wannapha, 26, had been badly injured after coming off her motorcycle in a soi in Samut Prakan.

It happened when wires blown down by strong winds in the potholed Soi 40 at Thai Ban sub-district became entangled with her bike as she rode home.

Korakot showed the press the poor state of the area with many wires hanging and specifically the bundle that got his girlfriend.

She is in hospital and needs surgery on a cheek fracture.

He called on the authorities to come forward and admit to negligence over the wires.

Good luck with that in the land of no consequences.

OK, that is reason number 1,000,001 never to ride a motorbike in Thailand. The list just keeps getting larger everyday.

It was the wind to blame. No responsibility required.

And pay a heavy compensation package.
