Cops boozing at the police station - would they be sacked like the nurse?

Daily News Thai Caption: In the middle of the police station!

Daily News reported after a media/news company on Facebook under the name Kraingkrai Thai(orn) published a photo of some cops and their friends drinking alcohol and enjoying food in the investigative room of a police station.

The location and faces as well as the identity of the alcohol was 'concealed' in their readjusted photo.

The post compared this drinking to the case of a female nurse who was sacked from her job after drinking on the job.

Would the same thing happen to these employees?

No, these were men, and a protected species.

The pictures showed what the media said was men who looked like policemen and 2/3 friends.

ASEAN NOW notes that a clearer picture was published on Facebook on the original post.

It shows that the police station is in Singburi province in central Thailand.

There were 11K shares and more than 8,000 comments on the story.

Some comments there garnered thousands of likes as the Thai public laid into one of their favorite whipping boys when caught with their pants down.

Cops boozing at the police station

Makes a change, every time I go to the police station, the cops are sleeping.

Ordinary Thais hate the BIB as much as a foreigner who has been ripped off by them.

Should read, "Will" they be sacked...

So many things that actually matter and happen by police, to then come with some political motivated <deleted> like this. I mean be real, any place they might sometimes have a little party with a beer.

They are not even in uniform, what is the problem, Thais having a little party at their work place once a month is nothing new.

An hour later so would have these guys..

Hmmmm….. consequences for Thais and their behaviour ?You would have to be joking…..TIT !!

Hmmm…. While i’m at it, is that KFC i can see on one of the plates?

I do not like the Bib but I can not see anything wrong with this at all. However if they had been in uniform or working then it would be different.

Only problem I see is, how are they getting home ?  mmmmm

They should be.... but they won't..

They're obviously too drunk to get a taxi

These are most likely to have their sidearm somewhere beer and guns don't mix.

I think most arms are on the side ????

When you are surrounded by crime and corruption, I guess it's not hard to drown the thought from time to time! Cheers. Chaiyo. Bottom's up! ????????????

Totally no context. Could be a harmless get together after work.

From the mouths of babes:

When our little one was around six or seven, she once asked, "Daddy. Why do the police drink beer, play cards and eat pizza?"

I have no idea where she got it from. Maybe saw some off duty guys, still in uniform, relaxing outside a restaurant. But her mum told her, "Shhh! You must not say that!"

"They are not even in uniform, what is the problem, Thais having a little party at their work place once a month is nothing new.

The problem is that it's inside a police station.  No uniforms visible?  They do it all the time especially when they go out for lunch.  They take off the uniform shirt so local people will not realize they are police.  I've seen the same thing by government workers and teachers.

One rule for most; none for BIB.

They should be sacked, but probably normal behavior.. rules for everyone except........... and who cares that they are boozing... they have nothing else to do... If they were working and doing their jobs, they didn't have time to do so

The problem is that, even if this is apart, they are a National disgrace.  Even if they are off duty, people will believe the worst, because they are the worst.  Perception is everything.

it is a police station, doesnt matter if they are not in uniform, there should be no alcohol being consumed in a police station at any time, we all know how pathetic thai men are with their egos, alcohol and guns re not a good mix. Anywhere in the western world they would be sacked as should happen, these cretins think they can do as they please bcause no one says or does anything which is why so many police(government workers)are involved in graft & corruption, they refuse to do what they are paid to do and actually work, even when they have road blocks they are doing the same thing, drinking, way past time the govt grew a pair and started sacking all the ones that refuse to work and do this sort of <deleted> along with their graft/corruption. Trouble is that would remove the greater majority of the police force.....

No. The police are protected at the highest levels of government here. They are very rarely fired. Occasionally, they are transferred with full pay, if a situation gets embarrassing enough.

And having a couple of beers at work does not seem like a big deal, since they are not really engaging in true law enforcement anyway. It might actually benefit the public, as it keeps them off the street.
