Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was filmed without a seatbelt in a moving car

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been fined for not wearing a seatbelt in a moving car while filming a social media video.

Lancashire Police said it had issued a 42-year-old man from London with a conditional offer of a fixed penalty.

No 10 said Mr Sunak "fully accepts this was a mistake and has apologised", adding that he would pay the fine.

Passengers caught failing to wear a seat belt when one is available can be fined £100.

He's setting a bad example for all Prime Ministers.

More of that conservative ethic that UK ministers have that the rules don't apply to them.

So now he has a criminal record. Does that not bar him from public office?

Fined for covid breach.

Fined for not wearing a seatbelt.

Beaten by liz truss in party base vote.

I know which I’d see as the most embarrassing event.

Thank goodness this can never happen in Thailand.

He made a small mistake. Held his hands up, paid the fine. Let's move on.

It's not a criminal record.

His wife has Non Dom status so no need to go down that route either.

If there is to be a deeper investigation into accidental law breaking, tax avoidance and general mischievous behaviour, let have it across the board including the opposition MPs too. Wouldn't want to elect a party with members who have been erroneous now, would we????

The driver should also be fined for not ensuring that his passenger was wearing a seat belt.

I would presume it's the driver's responsibility in the first place. But this is not an ordinary fine of course.

Seems a lot to do about not much. He made a mistake, pays the fine, end of.

Politics. Makes you laugh.

A minister makes a video, a speech or takes part in an interview.

Opposition ministers trawl through said video/speech/ interview for things that could be inaccurate, things they disagree with or things they think they can make an issue of. If there is nothing meeting those agendas, they look for something else.

Can't find anything to have a go at so grass about not wearing a seat belt. Just like kids in the playground.

Perhaps he was checked for a seat belt but he undid it for the photo shoot, or perhaps he undid it to scratch his ass on rout whilst the driver has his eyes on the road.

How bloody petty the media has become.....????

I believe that the Prime Minister always travels with a Police Officer Bodyguard......  seems he had no opinion on the subject?
