Warrants expected for three DSI officials after raid former Nauru consul-general’s house

Bangkok’s Huai Khwang police are expected to issue warrants for the arrest of three officials at the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), who are accused of extorting money from a group of Chinese nationals during a raid on the house of a former consul-general of the Republic of Nauru in the Sathorn Road area on December 22nd.

Final suspect in Phuket snake show fire arrested, links to Chinese triads

Police in Bangkok have arrested the final suspect wanted in connection with a fire at a Phuket snake show venue last year. According to a Nation Thailand report, the fire was allegedly ordered by a Chinese triad operating under Chaiyanat Kornchayanant.

Enigma at the Chao Mae Lim Ko Niao Shrine

On the first full moon after the Chinese New Year, Chinese descendants in Pattani province, Thailand’s deep South, celebrate the sacred palanquin procession at the 16th-century Leng Chu Kiang Shrine. All 18 Chinese deity figurines, including Cho Su Kong, Pae Gong, and Lim Ko Niao, are transferred from their altars to sacred palanquins before wandering (and having a lot of action and adventure) outside the shrine for one day.

We drive past it, or around it, most days whilst we live in Phuket. But who are the two ladies who feature in the central statues in the Heroines monument? The monument is perched on a roundabout, approximately in the centre of the island.
