Working with the Airport Interdiction Task Force (AITF) the authorities targeted incoming passengers from Ethiopia, a passing through point for drugs from South America.

A suspicious object was found in one male passenger's 36x52 cms wheely case, reported Siam Rath

On closer inspection and then with the use of a screwdriver a secret compartment was prised open to reveal the drugs.

They were packed in clear plastic and surrounded by black tape.

A test using 052 Cobalt Thiocyanate Reagent turned a white substance sky blue.

A sure sign that it was 2.2 kilos of cocaine worth 6.6 million baht.

The passenger was arrested and handed over to the custody of the Airport Police.

So was this a 'tip off' or do they target all Ethiopian passengers?

Hard to speculate I guess.

on a side note I had a shipment I delivered to the Bangkok port x-rayed and pulled apart for a drug search. The reason when asked, Thailand to Australia via shipping lanes is a known trafficking corridor. So maybe lucky random search as they’re under heightened suspicion as it’s, as stated a known corridor

Bangkok Hilton more like.

Makes you wonder how it managed to evade X-ray detection in Ethiopia?

Ethiopia men are famous for their long distace running ability.......

Will the Bangkok Hilton do his TM30? :coffee1:

He's not going to have very fond memories of Thailand.

I am sure it was just for his own personal use.
