webfact Posted February 4, 2023 Share Posted February 4, 2023 Picture: Daily News A man operating a crane in Buriram, NE Thailand, was electrocuted after the arm of his vehicle contacted high power cables during piling work for a pedestrian crossing yesterday. It happened on the Buriram to Nang Rong Road in Ban Bua sub-district outside a PT gas station, reported Daily News. When Pol Capt Pornchai Bamrungsin of Muang district police arrived the victim had already been given CPR and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Picture: Daily News He was 46 year old Sakon Khamphatu from Ubon Ratchathani. He was attempting to pull the arm of the crane down when it contacted the cables above. Also most of the lower lines that are all tangled are data/internet lines, not power lines. Either the insulation was deteriorated or he broke it when the pile driver stand hit the wires. Nice try: the wiring in Thailand is very, very dangerous. I can not count the number of times I've seen bare wires sticking out of poles or running along a bridge within hand reach of a child not even mentioning cables low enough to decapite. Electrocution very common in Thailand. So many corners cut to save a few baht. When my house was built I was getting shocks every time I touched an electrical appliance. In Thailand the 230v service cables are low, the Net and telephone are at the near same level on the pole. The hi-tension stuff are the 3 cables much higher up, you can see them in the OP photo on the right, and yes these are cover too.. Don't think the sub station supply cables are covered.
