Police tracked down and caught two Swedish men and three Thai men on Friday, 17 February 2023, who were fighting each other at the end of Soi Bangla street in Patong Sub district, Kathu District, Phuket Province, Thailand over a traffic rule.

 

The controversy started around 3.30 PM of 13 February, when the group of Thais told the tourists that they could not ride their motorcycle into Soi Bangla street, according to the rule.

 

This led to an argument between the two groups and later the fight.

Two Foreigners and Three Thais Arrested in Patong, Phuket After Fighting Following Motorbike Racing Dispute

Patong – Two foreigners and three Thais were arrested after fighting over motorbike racing in Patong.

 

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that they checked CCTV footage and tracked down five people involved in the incident who were two Swedish nationals and three Thais.

One of them is a taxi motorbike rider. He admitted that he was involved in the fighting after they warned a group of foreign motorbike racers that they are not allowed to ride on Bangla Road except with permission by law enforcement officers.

 

The foreign motorbike riders were disappointed and angry before they verbally insulted the Thai men with abrasive language which led to a physical conflict.

Looks like six foot swedes kicking the heck out of two five foot Thai's.  A lot of tough farangs when confronted with short asians.

So, who was right?  

I have a feeling 3 wasn’t enough and they came unstuck or this would of been another Farang battered and hospital headline.

The Swedes seem to have caught the sun a bit.

Maybe they should of rode on the path like many others do.....????????

No one is entitled to make their own traffic laws. If they are not allowed to drive in a particular direction or on a particular street, the authorities must put up a sign to say so, not rely on a taxi rider to enforce a “rule”. No wonder the Swedes were upset.

Looks like more Arabs and Africans masquerading as Europeans because someone in the family got a "refugee" VISA.

 

Regardless, I'd probably be upset if a local (who is likely unlicensed and uninsured) made up their own traffic rules and was yelling in my face.

Can't we all just get along...

And so the Bickering begins and only 8am. 

Looks like the horrible little cowards were at it again but the odds 3 on 2 weren't quite in their favour. Better off going home and beating up the wife again

No farang in the photo, Thais and Arabs.

Anybody have a clue what the "rule" was supposed to be for these ''motorbike racers'' ? Is there a special rule book for them.      

I'm sure they all had driving licenses checked. not.

I haven't been to Patong Beach for many years. Last time I was there the street Soi Bangla closed at night and was turned into a walking street. I didn't think it closed at 3:30 pm even if it did, I'm sure there are thai's also driving on the street after it was closed.

Those are quite risky odds considering 20 to 22% of Swedes are not blonde haired and blue eyed.

Sorry I simply refuse to be lied to.

From my sandbox days I remember there is a barrier either end with no entry signs to all vehicles of course you still have to keep your wits about you as not to get run over by speeding traffic ????
