A recent opinion poll puts Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Paethongtarn Shinawatra, a potential prime minister candidate of opposition Pheu Thai Party, on top of the list of prime minister preferences in the upcoming general election but their popularity gap has shrunk.

The Super Poll, a private polling and research agency, said the opinion poll was conducted hot on the heels of the two-day House debate by the opposition bloc against the Prayut government last week.

It said 1,571 people across the country were asked for their assessment of the performance of Prime Minister Prayut and opposition MPs in the House debate and their preferences for the next prime minister.

I know thai ppl can be apathetic and are immune from the evils of corruption but really.

Surprised of the smallish percentage of poll numbers regarding anything Move Forward?

Always be suspicious of any conventional-based polls.

First up, their particular party needs to get the gong before they can start worrying about who will be PM.

Isn’t the next election a foregone conclusion?
Why bother with all the semantics of who the preferred PM is? It’s already been decided by how the parliament is made up. It’s been designed to give some semblance of an election but we all know there can only be one winner.
The people will get the PM they’re given and not the one they vote for.

They had this all mechanics and strategies wrapped up at least a couple years ago with their clandestine changes and restrictions - all backed up by the courts and most importantly the anointed one, in which every act, writ and policy goes through for approval beforehand.

Thai style democracy.

If Prayut is near the top of the list there is something very wrong with Thailand.

The reason for the current and ongoing situation, to which many can't see,  or want to see or believe in the tooth fairy.

The problem is that you have 4 people that are known 3 that are involved and 1 with a pretty face and a last name.

She's not around she has no political experience and has never run anything or been a leader.

Anutin can't decide which foot to put in his mouth.

Prawit has been under the PPP umbrella and people only got a small taste.

The others are WHO

Also let's face it does the average Thai living outside bkk actually care about the politics

Can we all agree to rid ourselves of Prayut, Prawit and Anutin in the next election? Please. These halfwits are killing the country.

I assume that the senators and the generals are the same.

I was at dinner with a couple of young Thais the other day and I asked who they would be voting for - they laughed and said there was no point , the army always wins.

The Thai people may get the PM chosen for them rather than the one they voted for.

To the contrary.

I believe there might be something wrong if he wasn't atop the list.

Suspicious minds.

No election process require.

Just await the next coup.

Problems resolved.
