A new report has found 107 immigration officers face charges related to  helping Chinese nationals involved in “grey” businesses to obtain visas.


9 of these officers will also be charged with accepting money  or other benefits,


Police general Surachate said charging the officers would improve confidence towards the police. 

Police seized 2.5 million speed pills and 10 kilogrammes of ketamine during a raid on a house in Samut Prakan yesterday; firearms and ammunition were also found.


Now the search is on for three suspected drug smugglers who police believe were involved in the drugs haul.

 

A woman from Myanmar was stabbed to death by another migrant worker yesterday, at Pratunam in Bangkok, both worked at a fruit stall,  the attacker was arrested and later confessed to the killing saying he was annoyed that she told his employer he was running another stall and was lazy.

 

The bank of thailand has issued a new set of security measures,, in an effort to deal with mobile banking scams, 
They include a daily limit on money transfers,  biometric identity verification for transfers of more than 50,000 baht, a ban on the sending of SMSs containing URLs.


The banks governor said: the new measures are necessary following increased online banking scams, which have caused bank customers heavy losses and affected their confidence in digital banking.


Lawyers for The foundation for consumers’  will sue the broadcast regulator the NBTC over the merger between Dtac and True.


They claim the merger was approved without taking into account opinions of stakeholders, members of the  public, or a report by overseas consultants and local advisers.


The merger reduced the number of mobile network operators from three to two.

Malaysia’s former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin was released on conditional bail yesterday, he is due to return to court to face 7 charges later today over alleged abuse of power . Mr Yassin claims the charges were political in nature.

Deputies from a Taiwanese delegation to China’s national legislature have suggested young people from the island should be allowed to participate in mainland politics to improve their understanding of its governance.


Meanwhile A group of mainland Chinese officials is expected to arrive in Taipei this weekend for a local-level exchange visit in a sign the island could be planning to resume normal travel across the Taiwan Strait.
