POLICE chased and arrested the third drug suspect who together with his two accomplices had opened fired on police at Sukhumvit soi 50 last Tuesday night (Mar. 21), TV Channel 7 said this morning (Mar. 24).

 

Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatkiat Jindakuansong, head of Metropolitan Division 5, was informed by Pol. Col. Opas Hannarong, head of Phra Khanong police station, that the third suspect, Mr. Sakarn, 30, had now been arrested after two others involved in the firefight with police, Mr. Konthorn, 28, and Mr. Jetsada, 29, were arrested after driving to the Sathorn area.

 

At 2 a.m. on Tuesday night a Phra Khanong police team patrolling the area around Sukhumvit Soi 50 expressway came across a suspicious pick-up truck with no licence plate so signalled for it to stop for inspection. However the three suspects in the vehicle fired shots at the police team and in the firefight that ensured they managed to drive away.

Drugs must now be the biggest earner after the "ladies of the night" in Thailand.
