Two Vietnamese trawlers with 11 crewmen on board were detained over the weekend for fishing illegally in Thai territorial waters. Reports said the boats were around 69 nautical miles off the coast, Thai maritime officers managed to board and seize the vessels then bring the 11 crew ashore, The crew were being detained in Songkhla. 

Thailand's election commission says more than 32 thousand people have registered to vote in advance on the first day of registrations which are open until 9th of April. Advanced voting will take place on 7th of May.

Tourists are being encouraged to use the "Tourist Police i lert u" app 

Users can call for help directly to the "Tourist Police" it will provide the users location, and send messages and photos.

The’ i lert u’ app is available for android and ios, and can be used in multiple languages.

Large amounts of air pollution have shrouded much of the north bringing the air quality up to 9 times higher than the safe limit set by the world health organization in places. Most of the smog has been caused by burning and forest fires.

 

Academics giving a seminar at Thammasat university have proposed a monthly pension of 3,000 baht be provided to the elderly.

One lecturer said many have been unable to save money for the future, adding a national pensioners database should be established and that a pension scheme should be a national priority. 

 

Locally:  The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin organized an alternative medical treatment session at the ‘Bang Nong Kong school’ over the weekend, more than 300 locals enjoyed some physiotherapy and Chinese acupuncture provided by the staff from Spine Clinic..

Indonesia: A tanker ship caught on fire off the coast of Indonesia’s island of Lombok killing 3 people yesterday, 14 others were rescued and brought ashore by local fishermen. The cause of the fire is unknown.
