BANGKOK, March 27 – The Royal Thai Police has developed a mobile application called “Tourist Police i lert u” for foreign visitors to Thailand to be able to seek help from the police in cases of emergency.

The application is operated with the Global positioning System (GPS), and can be downloaded free of charge from both iOS and android systems, said Deputy Government Spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek.

 

Once downloaded, tourists may click “Request” to seek help, and send information and photos at the scene of accident to the War Room (1155 tourist police Hotline), which has officers on stand-by around the clock.

Police only understand pictures or baht signs.

Good idea, but what if getting lost in the jungle without a mobile signal...

Such utter nonsense but then we expect nothing else as they want everyone else to do their job so they don't have to.

The annual photo shop parade around the tourist hotspots like WS aren't proactive policing.

A couple of officers actually patrolling would at least act as a visual deterrent.

Wonder if you can report taxi's who claim 'no meter' - or is it just emergencies?

So no more TM30 or 90 Day Reports! Track every move at the same time draining the battery and exposing your phone to hacking/snooping. A big NO THANKS! for sure just as it was with the Covid-19 Mor-Ch-Na and Mor-Prom app.

 

If they want to protect tourists, Thailand should create an app that does just one thing:  automatically blocks any tourist from renting a scooter or motorcycle.
