In Phuket, recent incidents involving foreigners behaving badly could result in yellow or red card warnings under the new penalty system for misbehaving visitors. A red card penalty, for serious crimes, would lead to a one-way deportation out of Thailand and possibly a ban on returning.

Since the start of 2023, 181 foreigners have been charged with criminal offences, mostly in Patong.

Meanwhile, a 28 year old Dutch woman who was arrested at the Phuket International Airport for entering and staying in Thailand without a proper permit or visa. The Immigration Office at the airport stated that she was taken to the nearby Sakoo Police Station to face charges of entering and staying in the country without a permit, but it is unclear how she originally entered the country.

This is not the law, they're making it up as they go.

Slippery slope. Never mind red card this is a huge red flag.

Special laws for special people, I've heard about this kind of thing before.

Security cameras on every inch of Pattaya, yellow and red cards now. Tracking software.  Sounds kinda familiar.  Wonder where they got this idea?

Just wait till the war kicks off between China and America.  All Western foreigners here will get a red card.

I hope that they are printing thousands of these new red and yellow cards in preparation for Songkran.

I guess the Chinese and Russian miscreants will be happier with a red card ????

Damn... from news here the Ruskies are getting their fair share of notices. With escaping Pootin's conscription as one of the motivations for the exile, shouldn't these guys behave?

Let's put that a bit in perspective: Since the start of 2023, how many police have been charged with criminal offences?

Any VAR....

Indeed.

Not that it matters, nor will it have any discernible effect, but I will never visit Phuket again while this rule is in action.

I have to say this really pees me off. Thai really do have a short memory,

Not too long ago, Phuket was crying to open up and allow tourists to come back

Now that the tourists are back they have this idiotic idea of red and yellow cards

By no means i am justifying tourists behaving badly, but what did they expect from a large influx of people with alcohol being available on every corner and under each bench?

Name a place in the world, where such a large number of tourists does not cause problems?

How about tripling police force and have them present 24 hours a day, actually patrolling the streets instead of either sitting in the police station or an occasional ride by?

Bali is no different, with some idiotic ideas to punish tourists.

How about being pro active rather than reactive?

Ii wonder what they would be saying once tourists will say enough of this stupidity and skip Phuket and head elsewhere? cry again?

So few guys had a small fight? happens every day all over the world, and yet this idiots turn a mouse into an elephant

How about dealing with taxi mafia? scams and rip offs? no red cards?

Not joking at all.  Check my post history.  At best our visas will all be cancelled...at worst rounded up into camps.  Anyone who thinks the Thai government will not side with China once the conflict starts is delusional.
