Pattaya Club at Risk of Permanent Closure for Repeatedly Violating Closing Time Regulations

A nightclub on Pattaya’s walking street is at risk of being shut down permanently due to reportedly having no license and staying open beyond legal closing times multiple times, say police.

Pattaya Police raided the Flexx Club on Walking Street at 4:30 AM today, March 28th, following a tip-off from concerned citizens that the venue was staying open past the 2 AM legal closing times.

Police stormed the place and found about 50 domestic and foreign tourists dancing to music. While blocking the exits, the officers told the venue’s operators to mute the songs and turn on the lights. They then seperated pub goers by gender and then checked each individual’s ID card to look for minors. There were no reports of any underage customers being found in the club, The Pattaya News noted.

So they needed a tip-off? ????

The idea of a real policeman wandering about finding infringements has not yet been had.

Sorry, but I must disagree!

There are many real policemen wandering about finding infringements but the idea of not accepting brown envelopes to ignore them has not yet been had!

2 AM is a ridiculously early closing time.  We often didn't get to the clubs until 2 AM after having dinner somewhere at 8pm and then going to bars for drinks.  People who are on holiday want to party till sunrise.

The Thai authorities should just introduce different licences for different types of venue.

Clubbing until only 2 AM is a joke.

How many times can you ignore paying the monthly bribe before a raid?

I am sure that Thai authorities have no idea that the majority of people who come to the country arrive from countries where there are venues which are open until dawn. And those visitors do not want to spend money coming to a country where they can have less fun than if they stayed at home. Why would they? This is just another example of Thais having no clue what happens outside its borders. They can't see their hand in front of their face - and don't want to.

They come to Thailand looking for something different, an early night is part of the pleasure!

Same stories over and over again, just because there is a lack of enforcement... If the RTP would do their job and drove around after 2 AM they can find a lot of more venues... and with a list with legalized businesses they can find easily the ones without licenses... But brown envelopes speaks most of the time

Start clubbing at sunrise and you'll be in bed by 9PM.
