More than 20 samples of fruit, vegetables, water, soil and food, collected from markets within a 5km radius of the foundry in Prachin Buri where caesium-137 radiation has been detected, have been cleared of radiation contamination by the National Institute of Nuclear Technology.

 

Dr. Sarawut Boonsook, deputy director-general of Health Department, said today (Thursday) that the institute used gamma spectrometry to check the level of radioisotope Cs137 in the samples and did not find any radiation.

 

He asked members of the public in Prachin Buri to trust health officials, assuring them that the foodstuff, soil and water in the province are free from caesium-137 radiation.

Translation;

They were all taken from the "collector's" freezer 5 km radius of the foundry in Prachin Buri where caesium-137 radiation has been detected! where the samples were placed last year! 

Trust them, they would never lie or be corrupt!

Maybe better taking samples from orchards and gardens in the area rather than markets. A lot of the  food sold in them has probably been transported from elsewhere.

 

I wonder if they sell geiger counters on Lazada.

But did they actually bite into any of the fruit or vegetables or taste the water? If they wouldn't eat/drink it I wouldn't consider it safe. Also, 20 samples? Hardly enough.

What about insecticides, pesticides and all the other good stuff that is copiously sprayed on all things.
