This island is the second largest in the Koh Tarutao area.

She was still missing as darkness fell but had been located in a ravine by a drone. Access was difficult to the heavily wooded area.

The tourist had been staying on Koh Lipe before visiting Koh Adang and going to a scenic area there at a cliff. It appeared she had used the wrong path.

Tourist police, park officials and the military were mobilized in the search.

Really not seeing how they get lost, especially on these small islands.  Simply go 1 direction, you hit the surf soon.

If fell in a raving & hurt, OK, understandable, sh!t happens, but lost ????

When you're in the jungle you can't follow 1 direction.

Due to streams, trees ravines, hills, etc.

There's always that uncommon common sense ...

... don't leave marked trails

... if so, use your GPS on phone

Adang isn't a particularly small island. However it is covered with scrub/jungle. The main trail is to the right looking inland which climbs upwards to three viewpoints. There are no streams unless it's raining. She must have left the trail as it's not marked well and slipped. I hope she is found very soon as there is little water around except what she hopefully was carrying. Once off the trail you would need a machete to hack through the scrub to get back to the shore which apart from the area around the ranger huts etc. is barren and not friendly.

Yes I have climbed this hill, mountain almost. Hope she is found alive and well very soon.

Especially when you are stoned off your nut on weed.

And what was a 29 year old girl doing hiking alone in Thailand.  Obivously unaware of the significant risk of rape or murder.
