Top cop Pol. Lt. Surachet Hakpal "Big Joke" has been responsible for the dismantling of a gang involved in the abduction of Chinese victims for ransom.

The group had recently expanded their operations which led to an investigation and search of a building located in the Silom area. During the search, foreign nationals were discovered hiding in the building, and it was suspected that they were being used as accommodation for a Thai human trafficker, reported Thai Rath.

The initial raid resulted in the arrest of seven foreigners under the Immigration Act, along with a Thai caretaker. The incident occurred on March 20, 2023, when Chinese abductors demanded a ransom of 500,000 baht for two Chinese victims in the Nongprue district of Chonburi province.

Four Chinese suspects were arrested and prosecuted, and coordination with Chinese authorities was made to bring the remaining suspects to justice.

Further investigations revealed that one of the Chinese victims who was abducted and held for ransom was an illegal immigrant using a fake ID card. It was also discovered that this victim was involved in human trafficking.

On April 4, 2023, Pol. Lt. Surachet Hakpal, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, ordered investigative officers to expedite the investigation and prosecution of those involved in human trafficking activities.

During the search, a five-story building located at 491/13 Silom Road was raided at 6 a.m. This building contained many subdivided rooms, which were believed to be used as a place to accommodate Thai women hired as surrogate mothers for Chinese clients.

The foreign nationals found in the building were arrested under the Immigration Act and are suspected to be involved in human trafficking.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Hopefully not.  As much as he probably deserves one at this level he has a keen eye for what is happening and is more involved

What did you make of his sudden demotion and move out of the limelight during his previous rise?

Do you think he now knows where he can and cannot kick the hornet nests?

He's doing good work now, but I think he's been pulled into line.

As long as Chuwit shines the lights, he is going just to have to follow the rays

Correct, I don't disagree with any of the previous comments. He was, maybe, over-ambitious initially, hence his sudden transfer for 're-education'. He is one to watch, and now,  having been reinstated, some big cases appear to have been successfully handled by him. I'm not convinced we (Joe Public) ever get the full facts, but Surachet is extremely media presentable. He will certainly be keeping an eye on the Election outcome as well. As for now, keep pulling in the bad guys - there are plenty of targets !!
