What's the cheapest way to ship a package dimension about 30x30x30cm (about 1 cubic foot) 5 kg (about 10 pounds) from USA to Bangkok?

Need to consider what is in the package. Using DHL or other courier guarantees close customs scrutiny. Which depending on what the item is, may involve more than just customs fees but also demands for various import licenses.

Personally I would use USPS.

Thanks for your reply. Do they charge lower than USPS and the likes? Do you have their names?

You can go to a website like this:

https://planetexpress.com/

And then enter the details from your parcel and it will give you the prices of several shipping companies.

I guess there are local differences but at least it will give you some options.

Thank you. The website looks nice ???? However it looks like they only service those who ship from Oregon, Georgia, Florida, and UK. I'm in Illinois. Out of luck I guess.

I found DHL to be farily competitive among the other shippers, cheaper than Thailand Post.

Really? I know that DHL is well known for speed and reliability. However they always give people in Thailand a hard time when it comes to custom, taxes, before they allow the  pick up. One time they wanted to charge the fee at destination about 3X of the value of item ???? Insane. I was told to avoid them ever since.

The items in the package are supplements; vitamins, protein powder, etc. You're right. I used to send them (different kind of supplements) through DHL and they gave the people in Thailand a hard time when picking up. So bad that we had to abandon the package and swear never to use DHL again. I was planning to use USPS as well but just checking here first in case if someone know a better option.

sometimes  shipping goes on weight or volume for freight charges......

I thought it would be helpful for you to see the shipping cost from different companies.

And if you see that i.e. FedEx is the cheapest then look up the FedEx cost for your actual location.

I would just purchase the vitamins and supplements online at iherb.com

They are very cheap and shipping costs are very low and sometimes free.

For these contents, absolutely use only USPS. ANY courier will result in it being confiscated for lack of an FDA import license. It is technically nto legal to send through mail otherwise.

Also be sure to send in small quantity.

Frankly you would do better to order for your friend through iHerb/thailand.  They have the way to ship such things to Thailand without arousing customs problems down pat.
